Here’s another “Throwback Thursday” blog. We randomly choose to visit Café Luluc for Brunch this Summer while exploring Smith Street and we really enjoyed it. I’ll start with the negative, Cash Only and close seating during brunch. In other words, be prepared to sensor your conversation because your neighbors will hear every word you speak. The cash part is not a big issue at all especially since this brunch place is very affordable. Nevertheless, besides those minor concerns, Cafe Luluc is a lively joint, brightly decorated and filled with a young “Brooklynish” crowd. The ambiance is homey, comfy, and both the ambiance and menu have a mild French influence.
As far as the food, everything we ordered was delicious. The pancakes were especially tasty, fluffy, and overall amazing. I particularly enjoyed the ample portion of crispy, frites served with my omelet and the bed of greens on the side, which gave me the illusion that I wasn’t completely breaking my diet.
The service was decent and what you would expect during a busy Saturday brunch. Our food came out in a good amount of time and even though the place was busy, no one rushed us to vacate our table.
Overall, good place to try on Smith Street!
