Last month, I had the opportunity to try a delicious Italian and Sicilian restaurant named “Livorno” in Lynbrook. Everything from the food to the ambiance, impressed me.
For starters, the service was impeccable. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. Not to mention that Nick, the owner, was constantly making his rounds throughout the restaurant to make sure that everyone was satisfied. He was even eager to offer suggestions when I asked for ideas on what to order. To go with the magnificent service, the ambiance of the restaurant is perfect. It’s a small space but the tables are spread out and overall the place is cozy and romantic.
The food was absolutely delicious. Our dinner began with complementary bread, bruschetta, and a generous portion of Caponata (Sicilian eggplant dish consisting of chopped eggplant and celery seasoned in a sweet and sour sauce), which was amazing. Full from the bread, we skipped ordering appetizers and went straight for our entrees. I ordered the Seafood Spaghettini, which was a medley of calamari, shrimps, clams, mussels and scallops in a delicious white wine sauce (can be ordered with red) served over pasta. The combinations were delicious and the white wine sauce was even better when I was eating the rest of my leftovers only a few hours later. My dinning partner ordered the Salmon, which was baked in a hazelnut crust and sautéed in a delicious white wine sauce. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the hazelnut crust provided a tasty texture contrast to the Salmon. For dessert we tried the homemade Tiramisu, which was delicious.
Overall, if you are ever in the area, then Livorno is a must try for authentic Italian food and service. Of course, I will be back, especially since it’s in my neighborhood.
