I discovered The Camlin while roaming the Williamsburg neighborhood, after having a delicious dessert at Oddfellows. The sign outside The Camlin advertised $1 Oysters and immediately, the girls and I were intrigued. After a quick read of the menu, we took one peak inside at the Camlin’s sexy, modern and chic décor and we decided that we’d make it a girl’s night!  Once seated, we all declared that we were going to bring our boyfriends to The Camlin, for a romantic nightcap one day, whether they liked it or not.

The Camlin is essentially a casual food and wine bar. The wine list is extensive and appeals to a range of tastes and budgets. My party opted for a bottle of Tiefenbrunner Chardonnay, which for under $40 was a great option.

The food menu is not extensive yet suitable for a quick nightcap. The highlight of the food options were the $1 oysters, which ranged from sweet to briny to creamy. Besides the price, we appreciated our Server’s knowledge of each variety, as well as the fact that they were well prepared (no dirt, no shells) and were of hearty sizes. Besides the delicious oysters, I was honestly underwhelmed by the rest of the food. My party ordered the sampler of 4 appetizers for $25. Everything on the sampler was just OK, with the exception of the pretzel bites with beer cheese and mustard, which were surprisingly delicious and the shrimp skewers were an honorable mention, although very small.

Nevertheless, if you’re ever in the Williamsburg neighborhood and in need of a night-cap, give the Camlin a try. You will not be disappointed with the wine selection and their delicious $1 Oysters!
