Recently named by Newsday as one of the top 10 seafood restaurants in Long Island, I was invited to check out The Village Raw Bar, a New England Style, Black-Owned restaurant located in Rockville Centre.
After hearing all the buzz surrounding the restaurant and raw bar, I knew I had to head over and give them a try immediately. Since I’ve been on a Lobster roll kick lately, I was highly anticipating trying a lobster roll from the Village Raw Bar. The short story is, I was not disappointed.
The brunch menu features four delicious seafood entrees (Shrimp & Grits, Lobster BLT, Crab Cake Benedict and Lobster & Chorizo Hash). However, my dining partner and I felt like being rebels and decided to try everything but brunch during our visit. (ha ha)
We started our delicious dining experience with the lobster Mac and Cheese. The noodles were firm/tender, and blended with a very generous portion of melted cheese, tastefully seasoned, and with large chunks of tender lobster meat. The portion was ample to share. This was a meal highlight.
The Bob’s XL lobster roll was equally as exciting! The huge chunks of lobster made this roll simply incredible; the buttered bread was perfect.
My dining partner and I also tried two types of mussels (the Caribbean Curry and the Ginger Soy) with the Ginger Soy being my favorite of the two.
Finally, we rounded out our meal with a slice of delicious key lime cake. If you love Key lime flavors, a slice of this key lime cake is definitely a must try!
Overall, Owner, L.J. Sealey-Ashford, successfully brings the flavors of Cape Cod to the Village Raw Bar. The food was flavorful, tasty and fresh! The atmosphere and service was also friendly and accommodating. The Village Raw Bar is definitely a nice addition to the Rockville Centre restaurant scene. Head on over and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.
