There is no passion to be found playing small, in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. Nelson Mandela
Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you. Oprah Winfrey
Passion. The life of an entrepreneur is occasionally exhilarating, and almost always exhausting. Only unbridled passion for the concept is likely to see you through the 17-hour days (month after month) and the painful mistakes that are part and parcel of the start-up process. Tom Peters
Purpose is the most powerful motivator in the world. The secret of passion truly is purpose. Robin Sharma
Ironically, I have been attempting to write this posting for a couple of weeks now. However, I have been doing what I am about to advise you NOT to do… I have been making my passion an option. I have identified this problem in many people’s lives. The bottom line is that your passion cannot be an option. You have to do what makes you happy everyday with no excuses.
Most people make their passion an option in their lives in the following ways. 1) Some people never take the time to discover their passion or 2) Once they discovered a passion, they fail to stay connected to their purpose or 3) they fail to make adequate time in their schedule for their passion.
Problem #1
Sometime (understandably) we are so caught up in what Joel Osteen calls “striving and not thriving” that we tend to forget what is important in our lives. You are meant to THRIVE, and not just make it from day-to-day. Stop dreaming small dreams and dare yourself to think big. Dare yourself to enjoy life. This means, dare yourself to find something that “lights you up” inside and something that makes you feel real.
The past couple of weeks, I have been daring myself to do the things that I truly love, without fear. I discovered a couple of things. For starters, I will always be a writer, whether that is formally or informally. Writing lights me up and I can no longer make it an option in my life. My writing has taken a back seat to everything. However, I need my “light”. Lastly, I discovered that happiness is only obtained through the achievement of your goals. I read that quote somewhere and while I did not understand it at the time. I now “get it”. You have to always be pressing forward, always pursuing your passion to be happy.
Problem #2
Most of us lack purpose. We must ask ourselves, why do we pursue this passion? There must be some rhyme or reason to the things that you choose to pursue in life. Stated differently, there must be a greater purpose for why we choose to pursue our passion.
For me, I strive “to be the best, do my best, and give my best” this is the vacuum that keeps me moving forward and keeps me on track day after day. Even with my writing, I am going to challenge myself to go deeper and consciously write articles that serve a deeper purpose.
Problem #3
We need to just make time. Why is it so hard to make time for the things you love? Answer: It is not hard. Sure, it’s challenging to make time for what you love when “reality” gets in the way. However, you must continue to demand a happy life. Again, I believe that your life can’t be entirely happy, if you are not pursuing your passion.
Therefore, today I made a declaration and I stepped up. I decided to pursue my passion. Actually, I decided to pursue all of my passions. I am demanding a better life for myself. I am demanding my passion. I am demanding happiness. ….. We need to all stop making our passion an option in our lives. Your passion is what makes you unique. Your passion is your gift to the world, so give it freely……. Do not make this an option, NO BS AND NO EXCUSES…
Just A Thought…….
well that just inspired me! I’m glad that you are back!
