How did I end up at “Meet the Meat” in Astoria?
When your Greek co-workers, who are also lawyers, tell you there’s a Steakhouse in Astoria that you must try, of course as a foodie and Steak lover, you don’t turn down the opportunity to dine in one of your favorite neighborhoods with the Greeks. “Meet the Meat”, a family-owned establishment, opened up in Astoria in June 2015. To be honest it’s on the side of Astoria that I have rarely traveled to, which explains why I’ve never noticed the restaurant. However, given its proximity to Astoria Park, this area is definitely worth venturing into this Spring/Summer.
What is the Atmosphere at “Meet the Meat”?
Overall, the restaurant offers a cozy, friendly and unpretentious environment coupled with delicious food.
What did I order at “Meet the Meat”

My dining partners and I ordered the porterhouse for three ($124.95). One dining partner ordered the Branzino, ($24.95), which was served with roasted baby potatoes.
While during my Saturday night dining experience, the service was a little “slow”, my co-workers assured me that this was a first time this has ever happened, as the service is usually fast and attentive.
Nevertheless, once the food arrived, I forgot all about the slow service and began devouring the porterhouse, which was cooked perfectly “medium” as ordered.

To accompany our steak, we ordered some sides, creamed spinach, brussels sprouts, and mac & cheese ($6.95-8.95). My favorite side (which I forgot to take a picture of) was by far the brussels sprout. The creamed spinach came in at a close second.
