Last Night @ Chikalicious Dessert Bar (East Village)

Men, you can thank me later, because if you’re really trying to impress a chick you MUST take her to Chikalicious in the East Village. Established in 2003, ChikaLicious Dessert Bar features American desserts, French Presentation and Japanese tasting portions all in an open kitchen where the chefs and sommelier work and serve guests directly. In other words, this place is fancy, innovative and cute, which makes this intimate, 20-seat eater the perfect date night in NYC.

The ChikaLicious Dessert Bar is packed with delicious and unique flavors and is the epitome of a New York City experience. Seriously, how many places can you watch the chef go to work on some delicious dessert combinations?  The Service was accommodating and friendly. The chefs were very nice and they did not mind when customers asked them questions about the desserts.

This is a VERY small dessert bar that only accepts reservations at non peak times. So be prepared to wait for a bit. However, the wait is worth it!! And although $16 is a bit pricey for such small portions, going to ChikaLicious is more about the experience, where the delicious and elegant dessert menu is the icing on the cake.

The Food: We ordered the 3-course Prix Fixe menu, which is $16; and includes an amuse, dessert of your choice, and assorted petits fours. Additional Desserts (add-ons) are $8 and we ordered a Warm Chocolate Tart
with Pink Peppercorn Ice Cream and Red Wine Sauce(Churchill Graham Reserve Port).  ChikaLicious also offers a select list of wines, dessert wines, ports, and champagne, along with organic coffees and teas.

The Verdict: Overall, I was very impressed with ChikaLicious. I truly enjoyed the experience and the fancy desserts. This is the perfect date night in NYC.
