I’m Officially a “Sugar Freak” (Astoria)

A while back, one of my  friends mentioned that Sugar Freak in Astoria was her “go to” brunch restaurant for delicious, southern brunch food. Being that I have a long list of restaurants that I want to try, I just have not had the time to visit Sugar Freak. Well, the wait is over! I finally visited Sugar Freak a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you, the food was so good, my friend and I went back the following weekend.

Sugar Freak is definitely southern food done right! The service was excellent and all the food was fresh and well seasoned. The portions are on the larger side and the prices are very reasonable (averaging under $17 for brunch). I highly recommend Sugar Freak for brunch or dinner if you are in the Astoria area.

Where: 36-18 30th Avenue, Astoria, New York, 11103

Why: The menu is heavy in Louisiana flavor including various oyster options, red beans & rice, jambalaya and blackened catfish.

Recommendation:  The blackened catfish

Wish List: The Banana Pudding and the beignets for dessert
