Republic is an Asian cafeteria style, trendy restaurant in Union Square. I would recommend Republic for groups and/or during happy hour if you are in the area.
The food: the food is delicious, tasty and well-seasoned. Since I haven’t been to Republic in a while, during my last visit I was a bit fuzzy on what to order. My friends opted for the chicken Pad Thai, and I ordered the spicy seafood soup. My spicy seafood was very spicy but delicious, flavorful and full of large portions of fresh seafood. My friends had no complaints regarding the Pat Thai!
The atmosphere: trendy, fun and casual. Do not go here if you can’t handle loud crowds and close seating. The crowd is a tad bit more mellow on weekdays, if you prefer that type of atmosphere.
The Service: everyone was friendly and welcoming. My only complaint was that I did feel rushed because the support staff kept hovering over our table and asking if we were finished, which was annoying.
Happy hour: wine is $6 and specialty cocktails were $8. In my quest to find the perfect lychee martini, I tried Republic’s frozen lychee martini, which was delicious.
