What: Bagatelle
Where: One Little West 12th Street
New York, NY 10014 (Meatpacking)
Why: Well it’s no secret that Bagatelle and the words “brunch party” go hand in hand. In fact, I think attending a Bagatelle brunch party is on everyone’s NYC bucket list (rightfully so). However, don’t be fooled into thinking that Bagatelle is “just” a fun brunch party. The food at Bagatelle is simply delectable and makes the restaurant worth visiting for a weekday dinner.
(Bootie Call : Vodka, rosemary, fresh watermelon, elderflower and lemon juice)
Opened in June 2012, Bagatelle is in the bustling Meatpacking District. If you frequent the Meatpacking District for happy hour (as I do), you may have unfortunately overlooked this chic, Miami style restaurant, tucked away on little West 12th Street. However, next time you’re in the area, go inside, relax and get you a quick “Bootie Call” (Pictured above), check out the vibes and trust me, once you see the food you WILL stay for dinner. Oh, and don’t worry if you still want to “get your party on”, you can do that also, after you eat of course. I left the restaurant about 10:45 pm on a Thursday, but trust me the DJ was just getting started! (Don’t you just love NYC?)
Chef Sébastien Chamaret has composed a delicious French and Mediterranean menu and comes to New York and Bagatelle with over 15 years of experience. During my recent visit Bagatelle on a Bloggers tasting night, I was able to sample the menu. While everything I had here was delicious, below is my list of the dishes that were the highlights of my meal.
Gnocchi Truffés à la Parisienne de Nicolas homemade gnocchi, black truffle pesto filling, truffle sauce
Pizza à la Truffe Noire black truffle, flat bread, crème fraiche, scamoza
Tartare de Thon Bagatelle ahi tuna tartar, avocado salad, lime soy vinaigrette, taro chips
Calamari risotto saffron cake squid ink vinaigrette
Châteaubriand – Pour Deux 24 oz center cut beef tenderloin, truffle potato purée, red wine and peppercorn sauce – for two
Poulet Rôti Entier à la Truffe – Pour Deux whole truffled roasted chicken, country style, potatoes, chicken jus – for two
Overall, I recommend trying Bagatelle ASAP for dinner!
Who: Great for groups, brunch parties, fun dinner date, trendy dinner
How Much: Very pricey!
