Jamaican food is by far one of my favorite cuisines. The cooking methods and techniques are a mixture of Spanish, African, Indian and Chinese cultures. The flavors of Jamaican recipes are amazing and should be a part of every foodie’s recipe book. Get inspired and check out these five recipes to have your own Jamaican flavored week!
For Breakfast, try some Ackee and Saltfish. This dish is made from the local Jamaican fruit, ackee, along with Saltfish (dried and salted cod). This is the national dish of Jamaica and a must try for every foodie.
For Lunch, or a midday snack, try a Jamaican patty, which is a savory and spicy pastry filled with beef
For dinner, you must try some Curry Goat. The dish is slow cooked with Jamaican Spiced Curry, making this dish tender, juicy and flavorful.
To complete any Jamaican Inspired meal, you need to make some authentic rice and beans.
Last but definitely not least, try some Escovitch Fish. Fish prepared escovitch style is seasoned, fried and marinated with a peppery vinegar-based dressing and it’s simply delicious!
