I’ve been on a Groupon buying spree lately, which is how I ended up at Churchill’s in Rockville Centre a few weeks ago.

Admittedly, I did not have high expectations for Churchill because I was thinking that it was just like any other bar in the Rockville Centre area (i.e., Overcrowded, bad food, etc.) However, thankfully I was wrong.

Everything at Churchill’s was delicious. The restaurant’s tasty menu was filled with a wide selection of burgers, sandwiches and appetizers; along with some hearty homemade entrees. My dining partner and I tried the braised short ribs, which was simmered in brown gravy, served over mashed potatoes with roasted tomatoes & crispy fried onions. It was simply amazing comfort food along with the Thai Chili Wings.

Overall, Churchill’s was a solid dining experience in Rockville Centre, the restaurant was clean, the service was fantastic and the food was tasty. If you’re ever in the area, you should give Churchill’s a try.

This week, I was invited to check out Bonnie’s Grill in Park Slope, Brooklyn, which for over the past 15 years has become known as one of the best burgers and wings restaurant in the area. This “no frill”  Park Slope establishment, attracts diners who simply come to enjoy good food. With meat being the focus at Bonnie’s Grill, many of the burgers and other menu items are prepared on the Grill, which is located right behind the bar.

I was indeed excited to try some burgers and wings at Bonnie’s. Here’s a snapshot of what I had:

Mac & Cheese –  made with a combination of three cheese, jalapeño peppers and bacon. (This was a meal highlight)

Hot Wings

Spiced Black Angus Burger – with Cheddar Cheese, served with Chili Cheese Fries (This was a meal highlight)

Catfish Sandwich – served with Cheese Fries

Overall, my dining partner and I enjoyed our after work wings &  burgers. If you are ever in the area, give Bonnie’s a try.

Burger & Barrel Winepub a/k/a “B & B” is one of Chef Josh Capon’s Soho Restaurants, down the street from Lure Fishbar, Capon’s other restaurant in Soho that I absolutely love. With its central location, B&B is a sophisticated yet comfortable pit stop to enjoy drinks, lunch or dinner after shopping in Soho.

Of course, when dining at B&B, you must try the Burgers, which are among the best in NYC. The Burgers are all served, topped with two large crunchy onion rings, which make for really pretty Instagram pictures. (lol). The menu includes B&B’s “Bash Burger”, which is a four-time winner of the People’s Choice award at the New York City Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash. The Bash Burger is served with caramelized onion, bacon jam, pickles and American cheese; cooked to your desired temperature. The cheese is evenly melted and the bacon jam is absolutely mouthwatering.

Overall, the food at B&B is delicious, the service is welcoming and the atmosphere is fun yet sophisticated. As such, B&B should be on your short list of restaurants to try in Soho immediately.

Chinese entrepreneur, Zhiming Bai, had a plan – to open an upscale Chinese fast-food restaurant, in hopes of being competitive with New York burger institutions like Shack Shake

To help with executing this bold mission, Uncle Sam’s Burger recruited Chef Sean Thomas, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, who brings his varied culinary experiences and constant experimentation to redefine American classics at Uncle Sam.

During my visit to Uncle Sam’s last week, I was totally impressed with the flavors and the interesting menu. Notably, the loaded tater tots were an immediate favorite! And, since I haven’t had tater tots since  high school, the impressive flavors of the sriracha sauce coupled with the savory chili made for an instant “ungraded” tater tot experience.

The unique combinations extended throughout Uncle Sam’s entire menu. Take for example, Uncle Sam’s Signature Burger, made with caramelized onions, Havarti cheese, lettuce and homemade chipotle mayo or the Spicy Avocado Burger, made with freshly cut avocado, sliced pickled jalapeno and Napa cabbage slaw; both of which are innovative and fresh.

If you’re into the NYC Chicken craze, then I suggest you try Uncle Sam’s Buffalo Chicken Sandwich – made with lettuce, crushed avocado, red onions and a delicious spicy sriracha buffalo sauce. This Chicken Sandwich was one of the best I’ve had in NYC to date.

Overall, the food is fresh, tasty and innovative. If you are a burger lover and/or simply looking for a new, quality fast-casual restaurant in NYC, I  highly suggest that you give Uncle Sam’s Burger a try.

You Must Try: The Loaded Tots, the Buffalo Chicken, the Kale Salad, Milkshake (variety of flavors)
