Can you believe that after seven years of living in NYC, I’ve never taken the Ferry to Staten Island?
Well, about a week ago, that changed! I was invited to a bloggers tasting night at River Dock Café in Staten Island. First, let me be honest; when I initially heard the words “Staten Island”, I intended to kindly decline the offer. However, when I thought it over, I concluded that since it was such a beautiful week in NYC and summer was ending, I should go ahead a take a trip to Staten Island.
I’m very glad that I embarked on the short, 25 minute journey over to Staten Island. The views of Manhattan and the Statute of Liberty are amazing (for FREE). Coming back into Manhattan the skyline is exceptionally beautiful on a clear night. (Take a hint guys, this is a great date night idea)
Anyways, just a few steps off the ferry, within Saint George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island, you will find River Dock Café, a trendy, fun, and delicious seafood restaurant.
The inside dining area is trendy, clean and relaxed. The bar area is chic with a couple flat screens to enjoy sports while enjoying a drink after work. The best part of the restaurant’s décor is the 2000 sq ft of outdoor patio space which is highlighted with an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline.
The Chef, Michael, who visited our table a few times throughout our meal, is an expert from Bangladesh who has worked with five-star restaurants worldwide and specializes in American Seafood. Truthfully, his expertise shines through in every dish. Michael pays attention to detail and the seafood at River Dock Cafe is anything other than typical, boring seafood.
Here’s what we had:
Recommendations: Everything was delectable. However, if I had to pick, I really enjoyed the Tiger Shrimp, the Maryland Crab Cakes and the Cajun River Dock Pot the best. Overall, if you are a seafood lover then you MUST check out River Dock Café in Staten Island ASAP.
